Landscape Mending is now the Council to Yakama Christian Mission! This site is no longer being updated. However, please go to Yakama Christian Mission’s webpage and you will find everything that has been on this site there!
Winter Talk 2018 is coming up, too. Please join us in Fort Worth to spend a few days on the Doctrine of Discovery and its influence on indigenous rights and environmental/eco-racism.
If you have any questions please contact us at:
Landscape Mending came about after folk at the 2013 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) passed Research and Reflection Resolution GA 1324: Reflection on Christian Theology and Polity, the Christian Doctrine of Discovery, and the Indigenous Voice.
Landscape Mending goal is to help Christian congregations, regions, and general offices learn and understand indigenous issues of justice that arise from the Doctrine of Discovery (DoD). Therefore, this website is organized to help you learn about the DoD, provide you resources to study deeper, and study guides to help you bring this issue before a group of which you are a member.
Landscape Mending’s next goal is to have a resolution before the 2017 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) concerning the renouncing and repudiation of the Doctrine of Discovery. You will find the current draft of this resolution on this site. Please consider it and consider having your congregation/region/non-profit become a co-signer/supporter of the resolution.
Please know the Landscape Mending Council is available for conversations and presentations.
If you have any questions or concerns, the Landscape Mending Council encourages you to contact us. We want to hear from you!
